Marion Manley (1893-1984) was greater Miami's first female architect. From the University of Miami to private residences, Ms. Manley enjoyed a prolific and highly successful architectural practice for over half of the twentieth century in South Florida. Join us on an architectural journey through time and place as we visit landmark structures designed by Ms. Manley and trace the progression of her architectural legacy. Led by Herbert Brito and Brett Gillis.

Merrick’s Villages

From a world famous architect to nationally recognized campus worship center, to creators of our city’s main street, Gables history is enriched by the influx of Jewish families after World War II. Visit significant buildings and sites, learning the stories behind the facades.

Join us, along with the Underline Cycling Club, for a special Fall treat to celebrate the life of our city’s founder, George Merrick, in developing Coral Gables. The Underline Founder, Meg Daly will provide exciting updates on construction progress and art projects before we set out on our journey. The bike tour will visit Merrick’s family's plantation, the cottage he built for his wife, along with other Gables only locations. Also, experience a private tour of the house for which Coral Gables is named. The story of the Merrick family is one of hopes and dreams, hard work and dedication, ups and downs, and, ultimately, the creation of the City Beautiful.

September 15th – Fairchild tour – Spend a morning riding through our lush canopy and then enjoy a leisurely walk through Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens for a private tour. Visit the rainforest, butterfly conservatory, and extensive tropical plant collections. See firsthand why Fairchild is a globally renowned plant conservation center. This is a long ride through tree-lined streets, starting and ending at the Gables Museum.

Though George Merrick founded the Gables, many women, including his mother Althea, also had a great impact on how the city would form and thrive. Visit the homes of some of the Gables’ most renowned women and learn about the impressive accomplishments – both locally and nationally – that endear them to our city.

It’s a hot summer and it calls for a relaxing ride through a lush garden of palms and cycads, many brought as seeds from around the world. Learn about the geology of South Florida in this eye-opening bike tour through the path at this world famous botanical garden. Tour starts and ends at Montgomery Botanical at 11901 Old Cutler Road. The kids are out of school and its time to get them moving. Enjoy this kid-friendly ride that includes a tour of a city fire station and a taste of some of the best ice cream the Gables has to offer. Ride along with a local plant expert that will help identify plant species, teach us about their unique characteristics, and remind us of their many benefits. This ride is family friendly.

Work up an appetite exploring the Gables hidden gems and celebrate your discovery with a group brunch on Giralda Plaza, the city’s most popular eating destination. Participants will be responsible to pay for their own meal.

Join us on an architectural journey through time and place as we visit landmark structures designed by Mr. DeGarmo and trace the progression of his architectural portfolio. Led by Coral Gables history buff Brett Gillis!

Partnering with the Underline Group, this ride takes us to one of the longest linear parks in Florida. Learn about all the upcoming improvements and new connections that have made this one of the most anticipated parks projects in Miami.

Ride with us to Pinewood Cemetery, the oldest cemetery south of the Miami River. This spooky cemetery features original tombstones and unmarked graves from early Florida pioneer times amidst a beautiful pine rock land habitat. Zombie attire encouraged!

Join us for a special ride in South Miami-Dade, where there is always #MoreToExplore, to learn about their extensive trails network. Joined by County Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava, who represents the “Bike District,” the ride will show us ways in which the Gables can be more cycling friendly. This tour will start and end at Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park located at 12451 SW 184th Street.

You’ve seen them - those incredibly charming coral rock homes! They dot the residential landscape of Coral Gables (and Greater Miami) reminding us of a simpler time. Christine Rupp, director of Dade Heritage Trust, will lead this guided tour down shady tree-lined streets to see this cute collection of historic homes. This tour's last stop will be the birthplace of coral rocks - Venetian Pool. So, bring your bathing suit if you're feeling like some summer fun! This ride is family friendly!

Ride to visit the legendary figures buried at Woodlawn Cemetery! From our important Gables forefathers, George Merrick and Denman Fink, to the Bay of Pigs' invasion leader Manual Artime, and Nicaraguan President Somoza, history is ALIVE at the beautiful, historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
