
Downtown Walking Tour
Join our tour guide, former Mayor Don Slesnick, on this leisurely walk to celebrate the 100-year history of the downtown hub of Coral Gables where some of the iconic historical buildings still exist.
The best way to experience the ambiance of Coral Gables is on a leisurely bike ride down the famous tree-lined streets through the City Beautiful.
Each tour offers a different theme and route. Tours start 10AM at the Coral Gables Museum and includes museum admission. Each tour is approximately 2 to 3 hours long. $10; $5 for Museum and Bike Walk Coral Gables members, Coral Gables city employees, and children under 12.
You will need to bring your own bike. **Check that your bike is in good working condition, including tires and brakes**
Helmets are required for children under 16.

We will celebrate the birthday of our city’s founder, George Merrick by touring the city’s birthplace and namesake as part of the city’s centennial celebration. Our ride will highlight the Merrick family history in Coral Gables.
Satisfy your thirst for adventure on a cool ride led by Commissioner Rhonda Anderson around some of Coral Gables’ most beautiful liquid assets. We will see the waterway and other important water features including the historic Venetian Pool and the majestic De Soto Fountain. Presented in partnership with the City of Coral Gables. Enjoy a leisurely ride down some of Gables’ shadiest streets, many of which are lined by trees planted by George Merrick 100 years ago! On this tour, guided by a local expert, you will learn about the lush treescape that makes Coral Gables the “City Beautiful”.
Our tour guide, former City Commissioner Ralph Cabrera, will take us to see the grand entrances that were part of George Merrick’s masterplan 100 years ago to impress City visitors. Visit those magnificent gateways and learn some fun facts about local history and architecture, including the political connections Merrick had to the construction of the Tamiami Trail.
Phineas Paist (1873-1937) was the supervising architect for the Coral Gables Corporation during the founding of the City 100-years ago. His buildings include City Hall, the Venetian Pool, the Colonnade Building, and the San Sebastian Apartment Hotel. His work is part of the glue that holds the image of Coral Gables together.
Many of the City’s most beautiful and historic homes date back to Coral Gables’ founding 100-years ago. Join us as we bike along the City’s beautiful tree-lined residential streets to visit these historic gems.

Join us for the most popular bike tour of the year: a centennial ride to Matheson Hammock Park and picnic at the historic pavilion. This tour leaves from the Coral Gables Youth Center (405 University Dr, Coral Gables). Presented in partnership with the City of Coral Gables and Dade Heritage Trust.
Join our tour guide Mayor Vince Lago as we explore the historic area where the Bahamian settlers resided who were crucial in the creation of Coral Gables 100 years ago. Held during Black History month, learn about the history of the Bahamian immigrants in the MacFarlane Homestead Historic District, the beginnings of the neighborhood and the stories the original buildings tell.
Kick off Coral Gables’ Centennial Year with this special centennial themed ride. We will visit some of the homes built in 1925, the year the City Beautiful was incorporated. After the ride you will see the special message we create on our ride!
Get into the spirit! On this ride we visit the Gables’ most festive holiday decorations including Merrick Park, Biltmore Way, Coral Gables Methodist Church, and the Coral Gables Merrick House.
We will take advantage of cooler weather to take this long ride to Camp Mahachee, a Girl Scout Camp in beautiful hammock near Matheson Hammock and Fairchild Garden. Our guide will take us a tour of the property and share the history and the plans for wonderful property.
This is a long ride and is recommended for riders ages 10-years and older and for riders that can maintain a minimum speed of 10 mph
Join us as we take a ghoulish tour through the Pinewood cemetery, the oldest cemetery south of the Miami River and the final resting place of many of Dade County’s earliest pioneer settlers. This spooky cemetery features original tombstones and unmarked graves from early Florida pioneer times amidst a beautiful pine rock land habitat. Zombie attire encouraged!

Join us on this ride to the Gifford Arboretum, a botanical garden located on the UM Campus, where Ken Feeley, the Arboretum Director, will show us some of the over 500 species of trees and palms. This is the perfect shady destination for an August bicycle ride.

Gear up and join the City of Coral Gables and Bike Walk Coral Gables for the return of the annual Bike & BBQ. This 11-mile tour starts at the War Memorial Youth Center and ends with a BBQ-style picnic at Matheson Hammock Park. Enjoy live music with our favorite musician Bob Bonnen, lawn games and refreshments, then join our optional safe ride back to the Youth Center.
This ride is in partnership with the City of Coral Gables, Dade Heritage Trust and No Boundaries Sport, who will be available on site to inspect participant's bikes. Advanced registration is recommended. A goodie bag will be provided to all participants with advanced ticket purchases.

Our tour guides will lead us to see some of the most vulnerable locations in Coral Gables, where we will learn how we can manage flooding from tides, storms, and other water events in the future.
